Dear players,

A few minutes ago, we shared with Rioters that we are refocusing on fewer high-impact projects towards a more sustainable future. We'd like to talk about what these changes mean for gaming and everything around it (esports, Arcane, music, etc .) and what to expect going forward.

For most of our history, we've managed to avoid days like this, but this decision is critical to Riot's future. This isn't about appeasing shareholders or achieving quarterly profits; it's about necessity. In recent years, as Riot's employee count has more than doubled, more and more projects have not had a razor sharp enough to determine what players need most. The purpose of the adjustments we are making is to focus on the areas that have the greatest impact on the user's experience and reduce investment in areas that have no impact.

This means approximately 530 roles, or approximately 11% of Mob, will be eliminated globally, with the greatest impact on teams outside of core development. We know that many of you care not only about the games you play, but also about the people who create them. These are not just organizational changes. These impact individuals and families, and we do our best to approach these decisions with respect and consideration. If you would like to read the email we sent to the rioters, we are sharing it here.

Double the number of games played at the center

With today's move, we return to putting games at the center of everything we do.

Our vision for the future is bold, and our commitment to our core live games (League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift) is more ambitious than ever. We prioritize these teams so they can focus on content, features, and updates that directly respond to customer requests. Expect events, modes, and long-term roadmaps that lead to a vibrant (hopefully decades-long) future for these games.

Our strategy is to more closely integrate esports, music and entertainment with gaming. Esports is more than just competition. It's about the highs, the lows, and the community that thrives around the game. Entertainment is more than just storytelling. It's a gateway to deeper stories, characters, and worlds that enrich your gaming experience. As we've grown, some of our efforts have become more isolated, but we continue to focus on gameplay, competitiveness, and storytelling in ways that make us truly great as players. We aim to blend depth more seamlessly. Whether it's K/DA's next hit, the story unfolding in Arcane, the intensity of TFT Open, or the one-of-a-kind chills at Worlds Game 5, the electric atmosphere at VAL Champs Uh , we're focusing on the following. Delivering quality, impact, and a unified experience to players around the world.

Beyond our live titles, we have other projects in the works that we can't wait to share with you as soon as they're ready. Project L is making great progress and we're looking for more opportunities for you to try out the game (stay tuned for more updates coming later this year). Arcane Season 2 is scheduled for November 2024. In addition, a number of projects are underway at various stages of research and development. The amount of our releases will never be large. We want everything we bring to you to be something you're proud of and excited to share with your friends. To do that, we need the financial flexibility to be able to spend our time building something truly great for our players. I know I will still make mistakes from time to time, but why those mistakes are right,

not because I had the wrong priorities or because I had to rush through a project before it was ready. I hope that it is due to Legends of Runeterra and Riot Forge We specifically want to address two areas that will be immediately affected by today's changes: Legends of Runeterra and Riot Forge. As LoR continues its journey, we are making changes to move the game towards sustainability. We know we have a passionate community that loves this game. So are we. Despite LoR's significant achievements and role in building the world of Runeterra, it has faced financial challenges since its launch, with costs far exceeding those incurred in development and support. is being applied. In response, we are reducing the size of our team and renewing our focus on the Champion Path. This transition allows the team to experiment more in his PvE space and allows players to focus on the game modes they have been spending the

most time on. The LoR team has more details here and will be releasing a video in the coming weeks to talk more about the future. After the upcoming release of Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story, we will cease new game development at Riot Forge. Forge was an experiment for Rioters to partner with their favorite indie developers and see what would happen if they were free to bring their unique perspectives, styles, and expertise to Runeterra. Across six titles spanning a variety of game genres, regions, and characters, it's exciting to see what these developers have created in collaboration with his Forge team. We're proud of the work we've done together to bring these stories to life, but now is the time to refocus on the ambitious projects underway within Riot.  A journey with you Our future strategy is clear. We focus on what we do best and what resonates most with our customers. Every effort, from development to storytelling to competition, is created to deliver meaningful and memorable experiences around the game. Change can bring uncertainty, but it also brings opportunities for growth and innovation. Thank you for your continued support. Nothing we've ever created at Riot would be possible without you. Your passion and commitment inspire us every day, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
